Academy Home School Connection Program
Mission and
Purpose
It is the purpose of the Nicaea Academy Home School Connection to assist and
support families in meeting the responsibilities of educating their children
at home. We provide administrative oversight and accountability.
Philosophy
The Nicaea Academy Home School Connection exists for those families who are
committed to the philosophy and lifestyle of training and educating their
children within a Biblical worldview format at home. It is our purpose to
assist and support those families who are dedicated to using this means of
education as a tool to declare God’s power to the next generation, "God’s
might to all who are to come.” (Psalm 71:18) Nicaea Academy views home
education as an alternative method of Christian education, not as a tool for
select course remediation or advancement.
Admissions
You are invited to call the school office to set up an interview and tour of
our school. Nicaea Academy does not discriminate on the basis of race,
ethnic background or national origin.
Rates and Fees
Current tuition rates, registration fees and other financial information are
available by calling the school office at 239-353-9099.
BENEFITS and REQUIREMENTS:
High School
Diploma:
Nicaea Academy high school diploma are available for home schooled students
upon successful completion of pre-approved courses. The student will need 26
credits to graduate from Nicaea Academy. Please check with the school office
for a updated list of courses. Home school students enrolled in the Nicaea
Home School Program are also invited to participate in graduation
ceremonies.
School Transcript
A cumulative record for each Nicaea Academy home school student is kept in
the school office. Transcripts are available upon request.
Report card:
Home school
parents may give their students grades to the school and receive a report
card from Nicaea Academy.
Educational Support, Guidance, and Evaluation:
The personnel and facilities of Nicaea Academy are open to assist you in
educating your children at home. Teacher consultations, weekly school
assignment sheets, newsletters, and support meetings are available.
Curriculum
Selection :
All curricular materials must be approved by Nicaea. The curriculum
should be substantially close to Nicaea Academy's curriculum. Examples
of approved curriculum are Abeka, Bob Jones, and Accelerated Christian
Education (Pace).
Annual Standardized Testing:
Home schooled students must be given a annual achievement testing. The
SAT's tests are also administered to high school sophomores and juniors.
Extra-curricular Activities: (may be a additional charge for some special
programs)
· Interscholastic sports (6 man football, cheerleading)
· Field trips
· Special Speakers events
· School clubs (Yearbook, Drama, Music)
· Special events (Homecoming, Spirit Week, Serve-A-Thon, College Day,
Junior/Senior Banquet)
Additional
School Classes:
Elementary home
schooled students are invited to participate in library and computer
instructional time at Nicaea. They may also choose to attend one of the
following classes: physical education or art. These additional classes are
provided at no additional fee. Many junior and senior high home schooled
students elect to take some of their courses at Nicaea. The school uses a
modified block schedule. These classes do require an additional fee.
Encouragement:
The Nicaea Home school coordinator are always accessible for questions or
assistance. Monthly meetings are planned to encourage you in your home
school endeavors.
